GW2 Raid Build: Easy-Alac, provide your group with alacrity as a revenant

One of the most important boons in Guild Wars 2 raids is alacrity. No class can distribute this boon to the party as efficiently as the Renegade elite specialization of the Revenant. This is why Alac Support is one of the most demanded roles in raids. Alac support is quite easy to play, however, the equipment usually costs a lot of gold. The Easy-Alac build addresses this problem by saving almost half the cost of the usual equipment while losing minimal damage.

Equipment

The Easy Alac Support is a support build for raids. That means the goal of this build is to provide the entire raid group with the essential boon Alacrity constantly and as long as the group has Alacrity, deal good damage to your enemies and help your group with powerful CC. The Alac Support role is good for beginners because it is needed in every raid group, is still helpful even if you don't have good damage numbers, and has a comparatively easy rotation.

The build has a comparatively low maximum value with a realistic benchmark of 22,961 damage per second (DPS). However, since almost all other builds rely on the availability of alacrity, the Alac Support is needed in all raid groups.

The best thing about Easy Alac Support is that you can save around 45% on equipment costs, compared to the usual equipment, without losing much performance.

Despite this savings, fully equipping your renegade costs around 90 gold all in all, making it quite an expensive build. Until you have enough gold, you can play a cheaper build, for example.

1

Armor

A large part of the gold savings of this build is achieved by adjusting the armor. Instead of using 5 pieces of the expensive Diviner armor, only 2 pieces of Diviner armor and 4 pieces of the much cheaper Berserk armor are used. You can even buy the berserk armor parts from Keeper Jonez Deadrun for a total of 168,000 karma to save another 2-3 gold.

Keeper Jonez Deadrun can be found here, near the Murdered Dreams Waypoint [&BCIDAAA=]. If the waypoint is contested, the corresponding meta-event "Temple of Grenth" must be completed first. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays this event is regularly completed by players, otherwise some luck is required. Just check back every 30 to 60 minutes to see how things are going.

IMPORTANT: the Armageddon armor is soulbound upon receipt. So you have to go with your revenant to buy the armor.

After that, you should buy armor runes. Ideal for this cheap build is the Superior Rune of the Pack. If you want to save even more gold, you can also use the Superior Rune of Rebirth. However, this will reduce your damage slightly. You need 6 runes of one kind (mixing runes generally gives worse bonus effects. You then place one rune in each of your new armor pieces.

2

Weapons

The Easy-Alac support plays with two weapon sets. Here, the focus is also on the cheaper berserk weapons:

  1. Two swords for damage
  2. One staff for large amounts of CC

A particular strength of the Easy-Alac support is the large amount of break-bar damage a renegade can generate with the staff.

3

Jewelry

Jewelry is a bit more expensive, but you have saved over 60 gold on armor and weapons. To have enough concentration you need to use EXOTIC jewelry with a Platinum Doubloon in each piece.

Buff Food

This build is dependent on the right buff food.

However, the buff food is quite cheap - you can raid for more than 5 hours with buff food worth 1 gold. If you convert the complete price savings into buff food, you can raid 175 hours until you are at the same cost. In that time, you've gotten back more than 1,000 gold from boss kills alone.

For food you need +100 concentration and +70 power:

  • Soul Pastry (45 minutes)

As a supply effect, you need concentration through power and precision:

  • Potent Lucent Oil (30 minutes)

You have to always have both effects to be able to fully use the build and supply your group with alacrity all the time without any problems.

Jade Winds (Elite 0)

A weak attack, but deals 300 breakbar damage.

Rotation

The most important thing about any Guild Wars 2 build is the rotation. You can have the perfect gear and carry the right skills, if you don't master the rotation, a player with worse gear and better rotation will always do more damage/DPS than you.

Most build guides for Guild Wars 2 on the internet are created by speedrun guilds and are designed for players who want to achieve maximum damage through lots of practice. However, the raids can also be defeated with significantly less damage. Also, not every player has time or desire to practice the rotation for several hours a week. To play a rotation to perfection, hours of practice are unfortunately necessary. However, if you understand the rotation well, just a few hours of practice are enough to play the class well enough for relaxed raids and beginner raids.

Your most important task is to distribute alacrity. This build is designed to give you 1.4 seconds for each activation of Orders from Above (F4). Many more DPS-optimized builds only have a tolerance of 0.2 seconds. When you feel confident using Orders from Above (F4) fast enough, you can gradually swap your jewelry to ascended jewelry with diviner stats. When you have swapped all the jewelry you will be at about 1 second tolerance.

1

Basic concepts

Your most important task is to distribute alacrity. This build is designed to give you 1.4 seconds for each activation of Orders from Above (F4). This means that you should always use Orders from Above (F4) as soon as it becomes available again.

The rest of your roation is built around Orders from Above (F4). You always switch back and forth between your legends to get as much use out of your energy as possible and quickly regain the energy you need to use Orders from Above (F4).

In Legendary Assassin Stance, you activate Impossible Odds (Utility 9). As long as the skill is active, you deal more damage and lose energy regularly. Therefore it is quite easy to get below 10 energy that you get 75 energy when you switch.

The following skills are used to deal damage in Legendary Assassin Stance:

  • Citadel Bombardment (F3)
  • Chilling Isolation (sword 2)
  • Shackling Wave (sword 4)
  • Autoattack chain (sword 1)
  • Preparation Thrust
  • Brutal Blade
  • Rift Slash

In Legendary Renegade Stance, you use Icerazor's Ire (Utility 9) and Soulcleave's Summit (Elite 0) to deplete your Energy.

The following skills are used to deal damage in Legendary Renegade Stance:

  • Icerazor's Ire (Utility 9)
  • Soulcleave's Summit (Elite 0)
  • Chilling Isolation (sword 2)
  • Autoattack chain (sword 1)
  • Preparation Thrust
  • Brutal Blade
  • Rift Slash

2

Ideal rotation

The ideal rotation consists of an opener, which ensures the necessary alacrity and a good base damage at the beginning, and two rorations per legend. Depending on when Orders from Above (F4) becomes available, a different rotation is used. The rotation with Orders from Above (F4) is used whenever the remaining cooldown of Orders from Above (F4) is less than 10 seconds at the time of the change. Otherwise the rotation without Orders from Above (F4).

During all rotations, fill in the gaps with autoattack chains.
